The body of the 30 year-old Derry man who died following a fall in Jersey last weekend will be brought home today.
Michael Stewart, who was originally from the Brandywell area but had been living in Inishowen for a number of years, died on the Channel Island after falling while trying to climb into his flat after being locked out.
His family have said his remains will be flown back to Belfast today before being taken to his parent’s home in Quigley’s Point, Inishowen, where the wake will take place.
The funeral will take place on Monday morning and his remains will be taken from his parent’s house at 9am for Requiem Mass at St Eugene’s Cathedral, Derrry, at 10am.
The funeral cortege will be given a Garda escort through Muff on its journey to Derry.
He will be buried in the City Cemetery, Derry, following the Requiem Mass.
The 30 year-old had been living and working on Jersey, where he had a partner, for a number of years.
