The call comes amid concerns from residents living in the area, who have warned that people are driving the wrong way along the road.

Councillor Cooper said: “I have been contacted by a number of residents concerned that a small number of motorists are ignoring the one way system and traffic signs and driving the wrong way down the street.

“They have said that there would be the occasional driver getting lost who would go the wrong way down the street which is understandable if you’re not sure of the area, but in recent weeks a number of delivery vans and cars have driven the wrong way done the street.

“They fear that there could be a serious accident on the bend in the street because both sets of drivers wouldn’t see each other until the last minute or at its busy junction with Northland Avenue facing Radio Foyle.”

Colr Cooper added: “I am appealing to drivers to respect the one way signs in the street and show due care and attention whilst travelling through the area.”
