Colr. Reilly has described the Quarry Steps as ‘overgrown, dirty and dangerous’.

He said: “A number of constituents have registered with me their frustration at the state of the ‘Quarry Steps’ which connect walkers in the Waterside to lower Spencer Road.

“These steps are overgrown, dirty and dangerous.

“I have been in regular contact with council officers who in turn have been liaising with the owner of this site in order to bring a welcome improvement to this walkway.

“I am, therefore, glad that the owner has now advised council officers that they intend to undertake a tidy-up of the area in the next couple of weeks.

“I am also pleased that council officers are seeking to progress the option of declaring these steps as a ‘right of way’ which would hopefully see a resolution to this long-running saga.”
