These is the first time that these amazing portraits of John Hume and Gerry Anderson have been shown in public.
Local artist Lolita Cooke from the Philippine Islands, who has been living in Derry with her husband Christopher Cooke for the past ten years, is allowing the Derry Journal to show these amazing portraits for the first time.
They will be on display with a range of Lolita’s paintings at an exhibition at the Garden of Reflection on Wednesday night (August 3).
Other paintings of Josef Locke, Amelia Earhart, landscapes of some of the most beautiful scenes from across the north west, and scenes of Game of Thrones will also be exhibited.
Lolita’s husband Christopher, a well known photographer will also exhibit on the night.
Lolita moved to Derry with her husband and children in 2006. She has no formal training and has never studied art but her talent is 100% natural,
Although only family and friends know of Lolita’s amazing artistic talent she is beginning to become known throughout Ireland and beyond as her friends and family back home in the Philippines proudly share her work on social media as do her family and friends here in Ireland,
Lolita’s husband Chris who is an experienced photographer also shares images of Lolita’s work on social media including Facebook and Instagram, this is bringing awareness of Lolita’s art and Chris’s photography to a world wide audience and they are gaining feedback from all types of people, ranging from other artists and photographers, art gallery’s, art dealers and collectors, and people known in just about every walk of life in every country around the world,
They are hoping this continues and that in the near future Lolita will earn a reputation as an artist whose name becomes known along with her artwork, and that art lovers everywhere will want to own one of her paintings.
All are welcome to attend the exhibition on Wednesday, August 3 from 7.30 p.m. - 10 p.m. when the paintings and pictures will be exhibited and put on sale.
