New horror movie, 'Night People', was filmed extensively in Co. Donegal.

Much of the film was shot in Donegal at locations as diverse as Fanad Lighthouse, Grianan of Aileach and Barnesmore Gap.

The film, which stars Michael Parle, Jack Dean-Shepherd and Claire Blennerhassett, is described as “provocative” with “plenty of twists and turns”.

Local actors include Aidan O’ Sullivan, John D.Ruddy, Kieran Kelly, Michael McLaughlin, Geraldine Foy and Derek O’Sullivan.

The actual location filming itself was constantly plagued by bad weather.

As Gerard Lough, who is from Donegal, joked in an interview: “All the rain in the movie is not me paying homage to ‘Blade Runner’ – it’s the real thing.”

The film, which is now available on Video on Demand, has been hailed by critics.

David Prendeville, of ‘Film Ireland, described it as a “film that neither looks or sounds like any other Irish film.”

Elliott Maguire, of ‘UK Horror Scene’, meanwhile, says the feature “shows so much imagination and ambition, it’s hard to fault it.”
