The confirmation classes from local schools undertook their pledge and received their Youth Pioneer Pins last Sunday. The boys and girls were presented with the pins by Father John Farren at Mass in the Sacred Heart Church. Gold and Silver Pins were also awarded to senior members of the Pioneer Association, with Sue Lynch of Carnamoyle receiving the Father Cullen Medal for being a Pioneer for 60 Years, Collett Barrett of Muff receiving the Gold Medal to mark 50 years, and Rosaleen Margey of Carn Brae presented with the Silver Medal for 25 years.
The Chief Fire Officer has advised everybody to be aware that from April onwards gorse fires are more likely to occur. He is asking that people think of the danger of fire before burning shrubbery, before leaving warm ashes lying idle outside, and even before tossing cigarette butts out of their car window, as even the smallest speak could result in a major incident.
A flower arrangement demonstration will be hosted by Quigley’s Point Scout Group next Tuesday 31st March. The event will be carried out by the group, with help from Josie Coll, at 7.30pm in the Point Inn. Admission is 5 euro, including refreshments. All arrangements will be raffled off on the night.
