New Nazareth House headmaster Antoin Moran proud to carry on school legacy

Antoin Moran who hails from Maghera, took up the post two weeks ago and said he feels blessed to be responsible for a school that radiates such a special atmosphere when you walk through the doors every day.

At just 35, in principal terms Mr. Moran is a young headmaster.

But he brings with him a wealth of experience having previously taught for eight years in Holy Family primary school in Magherafelt and three years as principal of Ballyhackett P.S. in Castlerock.

“I’ve been in post for nearly two weeks now and the welcome I have received has been heartwarming,” he said. “It’s this warm welcome that has helped me settle in.”

Praising his predecessor Paul O’Hea, Mr. Moran said he had heard of the hard work and dedication of the staff at Nazareth House before he arrived.

“I have witnessed at first hand how much the staff love the school and the team work that already exists,” he said. “I realise how fortunate I am and I feel very blessed to be here and I feel very proud to be given the responsibility to lead this historic school. A history of education that stretches back to the Sisters, and a legacy that you can see quite clearly with the many photos on the wall. Every school has a motto, ours is Caring and Sharing. It’s a motto that’s not just written on a piece of paper but one we live and breathe every day.

Looking forward to the year ahead Mr Moran said that school life is busy.

“There’s always lots going on and things to be organised,” he said. “I hope to continue to consolidate the hard work of Mr O’Hea while continuing to push on and develop the school further in every way possible.
