The establishment of the branch is to try and harness this support to bring awareness of the Palestinian struggle through solidarity actions and events such as the recent lecture by Lubna Shomali from BADIL Resource Centre for Palestinian Residency; refugee rights to highlight 67 years since the Nakba (catastrophe) which saw 700,000 Palestinians ethnically cleansed from their lands, and which still continues today.

The I.P.S.C. is a not affiliated to any political party.

The Derry Branch hopes to garner the support of the community at large to get involved with Solidarity and BDS (Boycott Divestment and Sanctions) activities and support events.

“This is vital to raise awareness of the apartheid policies of the State of Israel and the countless human rights abuses carried out both present and past,” said a Derry I.P.S.C. spokesperson.

“A Facebook group page has been set up - Derry I.P.S.C. which will be kept updated with branch activities and upcoming events, as well as information about BDS and other issues affecting Palestine.”
