A Limavady councillor has confirmed he has lodged an official complaint with the Department of Regional Development regarding a claim by a member of the public concerning a member of their staff who was allegedly involved in the erection of flags in the Edenmore Road area of the town.

On Tuesday, Sinn Fein councillor Sean McGlinchey lodged a complaint with Roads Service.

In an email, seen by the ‘Journal’, Colr. McGlinchey stated he had received a complaint from a member of the public alleging “a member of Roads Service was central to the erection of flags on lamp posts on the Edenmore Road in Limavady on Friday 21st June”. Colr. McGlinchey said he viewed the allegation “with great concern”.

Yesterday, in a statement, a DRD spokesperson said: “The Department is aware of a complaint relating to a member of staff. This matter is now being investigated.”
