When Lucia Gallagher walks up the aisle next Wednesday, it will be definitely be a wedding day she, and her husband, will always remember - especially as the date, 12th of December, 2012, is a memorable one!

The couple, who have been together for 19 years, couldn’t resist the date once the proposal had been made.

Lucia says, “Stephen proposed on 11-11-11, so we already had a trend for unusual dates, and with the 12-12-12 being the last ever option for a quirky date, it seemed like the obvious choice.”

And just in case the guests forget what time to get to the chapel next week, the couple are set to tie the knot at, you’ve guessed it, 12 noon at Long Tower Chapel.

The couple’s two children, Ben, 14 and Jodi, 9, haven’t even thought about Christmas yet.

Lucia continued, “Even though Christmas is just around the corner the kids are so excited about the wedding, Christmas has hardly been mentioned! They’ve been pestering us for years to get married so it’s a special day for them, no matter about the date.”

And it’s a good thing, because Lucia admitted that she has hardly thought about Christmas herself. “I’ll have to sort the presents after next Wednesday, the wedding has just come round so quick, I haven’t had time for anything else!”

But she has had some help and support in the form of her bridesmaid and sister, Jacqueline McLaughlin, who Lucia says “has taken the pressure off.”

There’s also an extra-special guest, as Lucia’s nephew is coming home for the wedding from Australia - and will also be home for Christmas for the first time in two years.

“It’s made my mother and father’s year to have him coming home - and with the wedding happening too, it’s a great family time for us all.”

One downside of a wedding so close to Christmas is that the family will not be jetting off on a honeymoon/holiday straight away but a few days in Ireland are on the cards before the family fly off somewhere hot in the New Year.

“Jodi has never been on a plane, so she’s really looking forward to getting away. And it’ll be a chance to take it all in too. Although, nothing much is going to change, just my name!”, joked Lucia.
