An Apprentice Boys of Derry sash has been put up on auction site eBay, with a reserve of £7.99.

The ‘vintage’ sash collarette from the Browning Club in Magherafelt is one of dozens of Apprentice Boys items being auctioned off on the UK site, just in time for the arrival of the marching season.

Other items up for grabs include embroidered Apprentice Boys white gloves and a matching pair of ‘No Surrender’ ABOD mugs.

There are also flags, plaques, an engrave pocket watch and a wrist watch, all emblazoned with the ABOD insignia and name, as well as fridge magnets, lighters. pins and pens and even glass lens wipes.

A second ‘vintage’ sash collarette has also been posted on the selling site featuring the Mitchelburne Club’s name and dating from 1930’s to 50’s. This one has a starting price of around £40. The seller describes it as ‘an interesting plum silk collarette with white metal wire edging, two black on white printed silk panels applied “Mitchelburne Club Apprentice Boys of Derry Bushside Branch” and “Treasurer”. A white metal “cross keys” badge is attached’, with ‘minor loss to the edging and some light wear. Overall in good order’.

The Apprentice Boys will stage their annual Relief commemorations on the Saturday in August.

Other eBay curios relating to Derry include a 1932 boxed gold-coloured medal marking the anniversary of the Relief of Derry.

There is also an Old Orange Lodge Receipt with George VI Stamp relating to the Derry Standard Printing Works and dated from 1952.

On the nationalist side meanwhile, Free Derry Corner is also up for sale on eBay- albeit a miniature replica- for £20.

There is also a “genuine Northern Ireland Derry” car number plate up for grabs for £9.99 (plus postage and packaging).
