Hopkins is expected to talk about why she supported Donald Trump who earlier this week won the election to become the 45th U.S President.
Tubridy explained why Hopkins had been invited on the show.
“It has been a controversial week around the globe with a controversial election result so we are going to reflect that with a controversial guest.
“Katie Hopkins does a job, she comes on, she expresses an opinion that is contrary and difficult but it starts a conversation,” he said.
RTÉ also issued a statement saying: “Donald Trump’s victory has been one of the biggest political upsets of our time,” a statement read.
