A local woman filmed making a sectarian remark and repeatedly swearing in an apparent drunken rant outside a pub, has since met with door security staff, face-to-face, to apologise, it has emerged.
Ramona Wiley is currently suspended from her job as Director of Finance at the White Horse Hotel in Derry and has resigned as a member of the Board at the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation, after the mobile phone video footage was uploaded and shared widely online.
The video appears to show Ms. Wiley, from Limavady, swearing repeatedly while engaged in a heated conversation at Waterloo Street in Derry on Sunday of last week. At one point a reference is made to “Fenian b****ds.”
The two minute video opens with a man shouting “Who are you?” followed by Ms. Wiley stating: “N.I.T.B. f***ing trying to support Derry f***ing city.”
A spokesperson for the Tourism N.I. (formerly Northern Ireland Tourist Board), however, confirmed to the ‘Journal’ yesterday: “Ramona Wylie is not an employee or Board member of Tourism NI, formerly the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, and has not previously been engaged by our organisation in any capacity.”
The White Horse Hotel, meanwhile, has said that it is now retraining staff in light of the episode, which it is investigating.
Managing Director Issam Horshi said: “We are already taking steps to ensure that an incident such as last Sunday’s never occurs again.”
