VIDEO - Sinn Fein use Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ to promote Ó hEára

The general election campaign trail in Derry took a bizarre twist at the weekend when Sinn Fein used Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ to try and convince the electorate to vote for their Westminster candidate in Foyle, Gearóid Ó hEára.

The video begins with seven, as of yet unidentified Sinn Fein activists. wearing brightly coloured jackets, Gearóid Ó hEára masks and dancing to Bruno Mars’ hit pop song, ‘Uptown Funk’.

Mr. Ó hEára appears in the video four seconds in and as the seven men and women continue to dance the video shows clips of Mr. Ó hEára canvassing for votes on the streets of Derry.

The Westminster general election takes place on Thursday May 7.

Those standing for election in the Foyle constituency are Hamish Badenoch (Conservatives), Mark Durkan (SDLP) David Hawthorne (Alliance), Julia Kee (UUP), Gary Middleton (DUP), Gearóid Ó hEára (Sinn Fein) and Kyle Thompson (UKIP).
