The Continence Care Service in Donegal in partnership with The Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Education (CNME) recently facilitated a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) one Day programme on Paediatric Continence in Letterkenny.
The training ensures that the Public Health Nurses (PHNs) facilitating the ‘Healthy Bladder and Bowel Clinics for Children’ are equipped with the required knowledge and skills to provide evidence based care. The aim of these clinics is to provide advice and support to children and their families who may be dealing with bladder and bowel problems such as bedwetting and constipation with soiling. The training programme was identified as a priority service need in response to the ongoing development of these clinics.
The PHN Service are providing nurse led ‘Healthy Bladder and Bowel Clinics’ in a number of local areas, including two in Inishowen - in Carndonagh and Manorcunningham.
Appointments may be arranged by contacting your local Public Health Nurse.
There are plans to commence a new ‘Healthy Bladder and Bowel Clinic for Children’ for the Letterkenny area soon.
