The parents of a young Derry woman fighting for her life in an Indonesian hospital have today flown out to be by her bedside.
Lisa Orsi is understood to be still in a critical condition after she was found in a state of collapse yesterday at the accommodation where she was staying while holidaying on the island nation in South East Asia.
SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey said today he was getting in contact with the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin so Embassy staff in the region will be able to assist Dennis and Sharon Orsi when they arrive.
The couple are not expected to arrive until tomorrow (Sunday).
The 22-year-old from Woodside Heights in the Top Of The Hill area had moved to the South Easy Asia region some time ago and was working as a physiotherapist in Singapore.
Unconfirmed reports suggest Lisa was found in a shower with a bleed on the brain while on the vacation.
She is being cared for by medics at a hospital in East Java.
A special fundraising website has been set up Lisa’s best friend since childhood Sinead McElhinney at the website address: www.gogetfunding.com/project/pray-for-lisa.
Over £2,000 has bene raised to date in a matter of hours.
Sinead posted on the fund-raising site: “Being best friends with Lisa since childhood I have taken it upon myself to start a fundraiser to help cover the travel costs and medical bills that Lisa and her loving family might be facing.
“Lisa is a fun, loving and caring individual who has been working in Singapore as a physiotherapist.
“Lisa would do anything for anyone and we should take it upon ourselves to help her family and our friend at this difficult time.
“Please donate what you can, even the smallest donation will go a long way. Thank you for your time. WE LOVE YOU LISA, YOU ARE IN OUR PRAYERS xxxx”
Hundreds of people are sharing the appeal for Lisa across social media today.
Mr Ramsey thanked all those who are keeping Lisa in their prayers and made donations.
