The remains of Derry man who died suddenly in the US will be brought home today after an “unbelievable” response from people in the city.
Patrick Friel (pictured) passed away on Tuesday in New York. Initially it had been thought it could take more than a week to make arrangements to have him brought home.
But Patrick’s friend Glen Cassidy told the ‘Journal’ yesterday the remains of the young Derry man would return home this morning.
“It has been an incredibly hard week but it has been absolutely unbelievable how the community has pulled together.”
The funeral takes place on Sunday morning.
