Pedestrian injured in Derry crash

A pedestrian has been treated for hip injuries after being knocked down in the Waterside on Friday.

Police are investigating the road traffic collision, which occurred between 1.45pm and 2pm on Spencer Road near Newlyn Terrace.

PSNI Constable Mary Doherty said: “A male pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was knocked down and was taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected fracture to his hip.

“We are appealing for witnesses to the collision to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.

“In particular, we are appealing for information about the vehicle in question that is described as being a large black coloured vehicle.

“Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact officers at Strand Road Police Station on 101 quoting reference number 756 of 19/08/16.”
