Cannabis factory uncovered in Northern Ireland with 42 mature plants say PSNI
Police in Northern Ireland say they have uncovered a cannabis factory during what they described “a proactive policing operation” yesterday evening (Monday May 10).
A PSNI spokesperson said officers conducted a search of a property and seized “42 adult plants and equipment used to cultivate cannabis”.
The operation was carried out in Newtownbutler, a village near the border in County Fermanagh.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply. He is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries, police said.
PSNI Inspector Darryl Johnston said: “This was a significant discovery by officers working to keep the community safe.
“Our investigation is ongoing and anyone who has information that could assist us should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 1744 of 10/05/21.
“Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
