Speaking after watching Derry bridge a 10 year gap by lifting their sixth FAI Cup trophy he insisted Derry were ‘coming for the league title' and as part of an ambitious three-year plan, the chairman admitted he was fully prepared to 'put the finances together' to achieve sustained success and 'emulate' reigning champions, Shamrock Rovers.

The son of the late John Hume spoke of how his father worked tirelessly for the people of Derry as the MP for the city during the unveiling of a new portrait of the nobel laureate.

An official portrait of John Hume was unveiled in Westminster following a commission from the Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art.

Painted by the critically acclaimed artist Colin Davidson, the portrait of the former MP for Foyle will hang in Portcullis House, and marks the contribution the Nobel Peace Prize winner made during his 22 years as a Westminster MP.

A suspicious object abandoned in a car outside Waterside police station on Sunday, November 20, was confirmed to be a bomb.

Police initially claimed the incident was a hoax but Assistant Chief Constable Bobby Singleton confirmed it was a viable device.

“Following further technical examination of the object recovered from a hijacked vehicle outside Waterside Police Station on Sunday evening, police can now confirm it was a viable explosive device,” he stated.

Mick Lynch, General Secretary of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers, sent a message of solidarity to Derry and urged people to attend a ‘We Demand Better’ rally in Guildhall Square.

Mr. Lynch, who was at the forefront of a wave of strikes for better pay and conditions during 2022, backed the Derry Trades Union Council demonstration.

The trade union leader, whose people are from Armagh and Cork, said: “This Saturday you've got an opportunity in Derry and the north west to join into that campaign and that movement of working class people at the ‘We Demand Better’ rally.”
