The annual Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help takes place in the Long Tower on the nine Sundays before Christmas, beginning on Sunday, October 27, at 6pm, with guest speaker, Bishop Dónal McKeown.

Father Gerard Mongan has announced the other speakers, who are: Charlene McDaid, singer with Cana Music; Sr Sarah Branigan, Vocations & Novice Director at St Mary's Cistercian Abbey, Glencairn, Co Waterford; Fr James Devine CC Badoney Lower, Greencastle & Gortin; Sr Perpetua McNulty, Thornhill Ministries; Fr Pat McHugh, retired PP of Gartan & Termon; Fr Brendan McManus SJ, author of Ignation Spirituality; and Fr John Harris OP, Prior Provincial of the Irish Province of Dominicans.

As this year has been dedicated as Year of Prayer by Pope Francis, the theme is ‘The Power of Prayer’.

Each Sunday, from October 27 to December 15, the programme includes the Rosary, a speaker, petitions, Eucharistic Healing, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The Novena will end on December 22, with Carols by Candlelight.
