Police treating assault on Peace Bridge as sectarian hate crime

Police are appealing for information following an assault by a group of youths on three boys, two of whom aged 15 and one aged 13 on the city side of the Peace Bridge at approximately 10.00pm on Friday.

Police are treating the alleged assault as a sectarian hate crime.

Three male youths were subsequently arrested. One aged 13 has been released on bail pending further police enquiries and two aged 14 remain in police custody.

Inspector Tony Moore would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault to contact police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101.
