A Sinn Fein councillor has voiced his concerns a serious accident is just waiitng to happen after a wall near a road in the Foreglen collapsed.
Sinn Fein’s Tony McCaul says the retaining wall on the Muldonagh Road collapsed a while ago.
“This happened a few months ago and it has left the road in danger of collapsing as well, “ he said. “The wall is at the corner of the road, and already there has been an accident. We don’t want another one, so I am calling on DRD Roads Service to fix it immediately.”
Colr. McCaul said he has been in touch with Roads Service several times, but to date the situation remains unchanged.
“Urgent action is needed before there is a serious accident,” he said.
A DRD Roads Service spokesperson said: “It is our understanding that this wall at Muldonagh Road is privately owned. however Roads Service is currently awaiting the outcome of procedures to formally establish ownership.”
