Derry City Council is expected to appoint a new strategic director within days, the ‘Journal’ has learned.
The Council - which already has two strategic directors - would only say that it was in the process of finalising the recruitment process and would be in a position to make an announcement shortly.
Following a recruitment process for the position early last year, no appointment was made and the job was readvertised.
According to the notice for the post, the new official will play a key role in “building a new and dynamic future” for Derry.
At that time, the local authority said it was looking to appoint someone who could “deliver real and positive change that will have a lasting legacy for future generations.”
The advert for the job added: “We want a strategic director that is passionate about people and about delivering investment and regeneration that will benefit the city and region.”
It’s believed the new role will command a salary of up to £70,000.
