Could Pope Francis be Derry bound in 2018?

“I think there is no prospect whatsoever of him coming to Ireland and him not coming to the North,” said Mr. McGuinness on Monday.

When asked to elaborate, Mr. McGuinness said he was certain the Pontiff would journey north when he visits Ireland in 2018.

“Because I’m around a long time and I know how these things work,” said Mr. McGuinness.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his wife, Fionnuala, visited Pope Francis in the Vatican on Monday.

Taoiseach Kenny spoke with the Pontiff for more than 20 minutes.

Francis was invited by the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference to visit the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in 2018.
