Residents urged to apply for free insulation scheme

Limavady Deputy Mayor and DUP councillor, Alan Robinson is urging residents to apply for a free insulation scheme currently being run by Power N.I.

“With predictions of a cold winter, now is the time for residents to apply for schemes that will be of benefit if these predictions become reality,” he said. “Funded by the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP), Power NI are offering cavity wall and loft installation for free helping residents save up to £150 per year on energy bills. The process is quick and efficient with minimal disruption and is open to a couple with an income of less than £25000 gross per year or a single person with an income or pension less than £18000 per year. The scheme is also open to single parent families with an income of £25000. Those who are homeowners and private tenants can apply where a maximum value of £800 is available.

“The Scheme is being run on a first come first served basis and funding is limited therefore I would encourage those who believe that they may be eligible to apply urgently. Given that almost a quarter of heat is lost through the roof of an un-insulated home this scheme will allow householders to ensure their homes are as energy-efficient as possible.

There are also a number of other heating schemes such as Snug Plus and Snug Plus oil where additional measures are available. Advice on all schemes is available by contacting Power NI Directly on 08000321894.”
