A PSNI recruitment that was due to take place in the Waterfoot Hotel will now take place in St. Columb’s Park House in the Waterside.
Two PSNI information sessions will take place at the new venue at 3:30p.m. and 4:30p.m.
“The PSNI recruitment familiarisation event planned for Saturday October 17 will now take place St Columb’s Park House on the Limavady Road in Derry commencing at 3.30pm.
“For further details on how to apply visit www.joinpsni.co.uk. The closing date for applications is Friday October 23 at 12noon.”
The event had been due to take place at the Waterfoot Hotel on Saturday October 10 but was postponed by the PSNI as they feared a planned Republican Network for Unity (R.N.U.) protest had the potential to disrupt a wedding taking place at the hotel at the same time.
The Waterfoot Hotel was then evacuated on Friday after reports that a suspicious device had been left in the area.
A thorough search of the area was carried out and a viable device was discovered in the grounds of the hotel.
The PSNI announced on Monday that the event would go ahead as planned in the Waterfoot Hotel on Saturday. However, hotel owner, Garvan O’Doherty, told the PSNI he no longer wanted to host the event because of concerns for the “health and safety” of his staff and customers.
The event will now take place in St. Columb’s Park House on Saturday, commencing at 3:30p.m.
