The PSNI could be deployed outside Brandywell Stadium for future Derry City F.C. football matches.
Speaking after a meeting with Derry City FC officials and community representatives for the Brandywell area, Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan, the Area Commander, said recent attacks on buses belonging to opposition supporters were concerning.
“We have had good relationships with Derry City over the years. It is well known as being a family club, and for many years has successfully handled all the stewarding arrangements within the ground.
“We had a very positive meeting and we will be drawing up plans to see if there are ways to divert those who may be tempted to get involved in other incidents of this nature.
“I hope there will be no repetition, so no need to have police there. It may, though be a case of having more police visible outside the grounds on match days,” he said.
