A Derry republican has claimed he is being harassed by the PSNI because of his political views.
The man, who did not wish to be identified, said he is the subject of what he described as “ongoing harassment.”
“They drive past my house several times each day and there is usually a police car sitting around the corner. If I leave the house and get into my car they follow me.
“I’ve lost count of the many times they’s stopped me, whether to carry out a section 24 search, or to check my tyres, or breathalyse me.
“It is just pure harassment,” he said.
The man also said he has spoken to other republicans who have made similar claims. “Other people have told me that it has escalated over the last few weeks and that they are getting it 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” he said.
