The arrival of the carefully styled RoCo Brew Bar at the salon’s new home on Derry’s Quay has created seven full and part time posts with plans for further jobs in the pipeline.

It’s been a year since a blaze ripped through the Mandarin Palace restaurant, destroying neighbouring properties and leaving the then Strand Road hair salon facing an uncertain future.

However, after making the move to the Quay last summer, RoCo has flourished and now employs 25 staff in the award winning hair salon and trendsetting Brew Bar which boasts spectacular riverfront views.

“We have a vision and it’s working well so far,” says Ronan Stewart who co-owns RoCo with business partner Connor Grant.

“After the fire almost shut us down completely, we were determined that not only would our business survive, but that it would flourish. We moved into two temporary premises and viewed every vacant building in the city before finally finding our true home on the Quay.

“With the opening of RoCo Brew Bar, we are inviting coffee lovers in Derry to make it their home, too.

“We’re also delighted to reward our existing salon customers with a chic café bar experience that’s a cut above the norm. We’ll be hosting regular live music sessions and cultural events while serving some of the world’s finest organic coffee in our stylish downstairs meeting space and comfy upstairs lounge.”
