Roe ho ho as Santa comes to town

Santa Claus and Mrs Claus paid a visit to the town, where they were met by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey.

Travelling through the town on a carriage pulled by Santa’s Clydesdale horses, they were greeted by a large crowd of cheering onlookers before their arrival at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre.

The gathered crowd were entertained by compere Brian Moore before Santa Claus, Mrs Claus and the Mayor took centre stage for the big switch on. Once the town was lit up local live band ‘Men in Black’ took to the stage to entertain the crowd whilst Santa took time out of his busy schedule to meet all the children in the Arts Centre and hand out a small gift to each of them.

Mayor, Alderman Maura Hickey said: “I would like to thank everyone who turned out in Limavady on Saturday afternoon for the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights. It was fantastic to see so many excited faces as we travelled through the town. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing the spectacle of Santa’s Clydesdale horses – they truly were a sight to behold.”

And there’s more festive fun to look forward to in Limavady with street entertainment on offer from 1pm t0 3pm on Saturday, December 10 and December 17. Look out for the bouncing elves, along with Peppa Pig and George, balloon modelling and glitter tattoos.
