'˜Rory' dances across the skies

People right across the peninsula reported seeing the beautiful phenomenon - also known as the Northern Lights - as it created one of the most spectacular displays in recent times.

Many people took to social media to share photographs of the dramatic show of
colour.

Local photographers snapped some very beautiful images as the Inishowen skies were illuminated, including these in Malin, Muff and Buncrana by Bren Whelan (wildatlanticwayclimbing.ie) and Adam Rory Porter (Adam Rory Porter

The lights were also seen in Northern Ireland, England and Scotland.

The chances of seeing the Northern Lights increase the further north a person is - and the further away from artificial light - meaning Inishowen is one of the best placed locations to view them.
