A local schoolgirl has just been crowned as the ‘Princess of Europe’ - one of the main prizes at the ‘Face of Europe and the World’ pageant held recently in Disneyland, Paris.
Fifteen years-old Rosaleen McGeehan, from Tamnaherin took part in the Paris pageant after winning the ‘Teen Face of Northern Ireland’ in July.
The pageant was a first in that it was a charity event, with the contestants, from all over the world, raising funds and awareness for the nominated charity, Headway East Kent. So far, more than £95,000 has been raised by the pageant.
Headway promotes a wider understanding of all aspects of head injury and provides information, support and services to people with head injury, their families and carers and Rosaleen, a pupil at Lumen Christi College, did her bit for the charity by raising £1,500. Her fantastic fundraising efforts were recognised at the pageant as she also picked up the title. Miss Charity.
Rosaleen would like to thank her mum’s work colleagues who took part in a sponsored leg and chest wax and raised more than £1,000 for Headway.
She would also like to thank Bridal Elegance which sponsored the dresses she wore at the pageant.
Anyone would like ‘Princess of Europe’ Rosaleen to attend any functions can contact her through her mum, Louise on 07752353212.
