Translink has confirmed they are exploring opportunities to enhance the existing Goldline coach timetable between Derry and Belfast.

A spokesperson for the company said any additional services would commence during 2016.

“The current timetable offers frequent services departing Derry from 5.30am running until 11pm and services from Belfast running from 6.30am through until 1am. Any further enhancements will offer our customers even more convenience, flexibility and journey choice, said a Translink spokesperson.

East Derry Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín welcomed the move, and said he also hoped “a proper Park and Ride site is identified particularly in the Dungiven area but also at Claudy”.

A DRD spokeswoman said: “The Department are currently looking at the possibility of providing Park &Ride facilities in the Dungiven area and have identified a potential site as part of the planning for the A6 Dungiven to Londonderry dualling scheme. A Ministerial Statement on the way forward will be published in due course.”
