Running fundraiser for '˜vital' Derry support service

Ben Nutt said he ran the recent Cambridge Half Marathon “to show my love and support for Colin as he fights cancer and to thank Macmillan Cancer Support Northern Ireland, for the vital support service they have given”.

Ben said his uncle was recovering after a successful course of treatment and is using the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital.”

“I ran the recent Cambridge Half Marathon, my first half marathon, to celebrate my uncle, Colin ‘Buddy’ Nutt, who has been diagnosed with cancer,” said Ben.

“A very talented footballer, an idol for my early footballing ambitions, Colin has always been active and interested in a variety of sports.”

Ben said he decided to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre at Altnagelvin, by doing something sporting.

“Your donations will go towards the continued support of people with cancer in the Western Health and Social Care Trust area and the Republic of Ireland, as well as their families, carers and friends. To date £1,500 has been raised. A very big ‘thank you’ to Macmillan Cancer Support Northern Ireland for the service they have and continue to provide. You are magnificent,” said Ben.
