Derry teenager Ryan Johnston will this morning appear on hit RTE2 show Una’s Dream Ticket after getting a surprise Christmas present from The Saturdays pop star.
On the show, young people aged between eight and 16 write to songstress Una Healy and ask for their ‘dream’ to be made a reality via the programme.
Thirteen-year-old Ryan wrote a letter asking to be a TV director for a day.
He was then contacted to be an audience member for the show, but was not told that in reality he had he chosen as the recipient of one of Una’s surprises.
Una asked the audience if anyone wanted to be a TV director, and to his shock Ryan was subsequently invited to join Una on the sofa to be interviewed.
The Derry boy was then followed around by a camera crew as he learned the ropes.
As well as meeting the director, Ryan actually took on the role of the director for the recording of the afternoon session of the show.
A spokeswoman for the show producers said: “It was a great experience for Ryan, and with his love of film-making this developed his skills in TV directing.”
The show is being aired this morning at 11am on RTE 2.
As well as making the dreams of young people around the country come true, each episode of Una’s Dream Ticket features The Saturdays performing one of their greatest hits.
