Schools raise cash for Action MS

Action MS Chief Executive Ann Walker, and Schools Project Officer, Ciara Callan, dropped into Longtower Primary School on Friday last for a special awards presentation to thank the pupils of Longtower and Fountain Primary Schools for their tremendous efforts on behalf of people with Multiple Sclerosis.

Some 240 pupils from both schools took part in a ‘Walk for MS’ at St Columb’s Park on September 23 2011 and raised a total of £3,139.95 in aid of Action MS, Northern Ireland’s Multiple Sclerosis Charity.

Mrs Walker said: “Northern Ireland has the second highest incidence of MS in the World. I would like to thank both Longtower and Fountain Primary Schools for their support of the Walks for MS programme. I would further like to thank the parents, pupils and teachers for their generosity.”

She added: “Action MS offers an extensive range of support services, including our listening ear service, support for children and families living with multiple sclerosis, support for young people, legal advice and Digital Inclusion.

“All Action MS services are free and all money raised stays here in Northern Ireland to support local people and local families living with multiple sclerosis.”
