Scoil Cholmcille concert tonight

A concert of past and present pupils of Scoil Cholmcille will be held in the Community Centre, Glengad to-night Friday at 7.30pm.The money raised will go toward buying new musical instruments for the school children who may borrow and use the instruments during their primary school years. A big turn out is expected and everyone is welcome.

Bocan Drama Group presents the three act comedy “A Quare Gonk” in Malin Head community Hall this Sunday 26th February. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm sharp. Tickets are on sale or pay at the door. Family discount available.

The Blood Donations Service will be in Carndonagh Community School on Wednesday and Thursday, 7th and 8th March from 3pm - 5pm. and 7pm - 9.30 each day.

A retirement function in honour of Mrs Monica Walsh, principal, Urblereagh N.S. will be held to-morrow night in the Malin Hotel. Music by Shunie & Co. Dinner served at 8pm. Tickets are 20euro each and available from parents.

Malin made it three wins out of three in the Ulster league with another comfortable victory 2-16 to 0-05., this time over St Teresa’s from Belfast in Malin on Sunday. Malin put in an impressive first The club held its annual dinner dance on Saturday night in the Malin Hotel with special guests Ryan Bradley and Michael McMenamin in attendance and once again it was a great success. Awards presented on the night were U-16 most improved player, Mark Doherty; U-16 player of the year, Darren Mullarkey; U-18 most improved player, Noel McLaughlin(F); U-18 player of the year, Brendan McLaughlin(F); U-21 player of the year, John Gerard McLaughlin; Ladies young player, Kayla Farren and Catherine Smyth; Ladies player of the year, Caroline Kelly; Junior B player of the year, Niall McLaughlin(Addy); Young reserve player of the year, Thomas McLaughlin(Ban); Reserve player of the year, John C Doherty and Niall McLaughlin(Fildara); Young senior player of the year, Ciaran McColgan; Senior player of the year, Matthew Byrne; Club person of the year, John McLaughlin(Rustard); Hall of fame award, David McCandless; Overseas awards, Finbarr McCallion and Sean Noone. The club is running a sports predictions competition with 25 predictions on various sporting events. Entry sheets are available in local pubs at 10 euro each with prizes of 250 euro, 120 euro and 70 euro for 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 6,4,5,2,1,7,3. The 50 euro winner was Marion Doherty, Ross Head with the 20 euro sellers prize going to Ciara McLaughlin, Shantla.
