Councillor Sean McGlinchey said he would be asking Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to appoint a warden after recent vandalism at the Environmental Park in Dungiven.

Speaking after vandals trashed furniture, a pond and wall at the park last weekend, he said: “This is wanton vandalism and, unfortunately, it tends to re-occur every time we have a spell of good weather.

“I will be calling on the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to appoint a warden to help prevent this sort of happening, and to also maintain this much neglected but, nevertheless, well used facility which, after all, is the Council’s responsibility.

“I would also appeal for volunteers to carry out a tidy up of the park area on Saturday 11th June at 10am. All equipment will be provided.”
