Shadow puppets cry ‘Off with their heads!’

A UK-based Puppet theatre company inspired by European and Asian traditions will bring the magical story of Alice and Wonderland to The Playhouse this morning.

The contemporary shadow theatre adaptation of the famous Lewis Carroll novel invites audiences to join Alice on her magical adventure as she chases the White rabbit back in time on a fantastic spiraling journey into Wonderland.

Indigo Moon Theatre’s unique take on the classic tale is inspired by English gothic mediaeval architecture / carvings found in their local church in Beverley, East Yorkshire. As the beautiful string marionette of Alice will journey through Wonderland she meets the Cheshire Cat, a two-legged dragon and the March Hare at the mediaeval Mad Hatter’s Tea party. But beware the Queen of Hearts or you might just lose your head!

Áine McCarron, theatre programmer at The Playhouse said: “This is a show by a company like no other, using lifelike movement and enchanting music to create enjoyable contemporary shows and workshops with global influences.”

Tickets for ‘Alice & The White Rabbit’ at The Playhouse today, Friday May 6, at 11am are £7/ £5 (group rates are available) and can be bought online at: or the Box Office on: 71. 268027.
