The owner of the shop which sold the winning lotto ticket to an Inishowen woman has told the ‘Journal’ he is delighted with the Redcastle grandmother’s windfall.
Speaking yesterday, proprietor of Farren’s Newsagents in Moville Dennis Foynes said the win has created a huge buzz around the town, and given many a much needed lift.
“It’s brilliant Kathleen has won the jackpot, everyone is coming into the shop talking about and everyone is really happy for her. I think it has given the area a much-needed boost. It’s something positive when there is so much negativity around.”
Coincidentally, Dennis explained, the winner’s [Kathleen McLaughlin] grand-daughter Jennifer came into his shop on Sunday morning, totally oblivious to her grand-mother’s win.
“When Jen came in on Sunday morning I asked her had she done the Lotto last night, because I’d just been told I had sold a winning ticket. She was shocked and said, ‘I can’t believe it, it wasn’t me though, and more than likely it was no one to do with me!’
“Little did she know when she got up to her home house in Redcastle what was waiting for her. It just goes to show you never really know.
“More than anything I’m really happy for the family. Kathleen always comes in every Friday morning and buys her four euro quick pick. Who knows who it could be next time!” laughed Dennis.
