Shortlisting of Derry-Strabane for Youth Capital welcomed
The SDLP Leader on Derry & Strabane District Council, Martin Reilly, has welcomed the news that Derry has reached the final stages of its bid to become European Youth Capital 2019.
The announcement that the city has made it down to the ‘final five’ was made on the official European Youth Capital website on Thursday morning.
Colr Reilly said: “I want to congratulate all of the staff involved in getting the bid to this stage, along with all of the people in the Council area – both young and old – who shaped our successful bid.”
He added: “I look forward to working in partnership will all key agencies to hopefully secure this title for our city in 2019.”
The winning bid will be announced in November.
