Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan has said the party will officially re-open its constituency office for Culmore and Shantallow areas on the Racecourse Road on Thursday,
Speaking to the Derry Journal yesterday afternoon, Colr. Hassan described the new office as a “major asset” that the local community can avail of.
“We are pleased to announce that our constituency office on the Racecourse Road will be officially opened at 12.00pm lunchtime on Thursday following a major refurbishment,” he
“The new offices are a major asset to our aim of providing support and advice to the people of the greater Shantallow and Culmore areas.”
Colr. Hassan went on to say how much the area has changed since the first Sinn Fein office opened 40 years ago and thanked everyone who had supported the party over the last four decades.
“The area has grown significantly since the days we operated from a caravan in 1975 and went on to provide 40 years constituency service to the people of the greater Shantallow/Culmore areas.
“At last year’s council elections Sinn Féin became the largest party in this area so we felt new more modern facilities were needed to meet those needs of an ever growing electorate.
“I would like to extend an open invite for people to come along on Thursday and see the new offices. And I also think it’s very important to thank all those people over the last four decades who have supported and helped the party grow and to insure this advice centre remained open.”
