Last October St Eugene’s Cathedral Parish embarked on a project to buy a tractor for a home for children with learning difficulties run by Irish Presentation Sisters in Mongu in Zambia.
The parish committed to raising £16,000 in four weeks. The response was phenomenal. Instead of raising £16,000 an amazing £26,500 was raised. The parish then also bought a trailer. The Home got the tractor and trailer in November. Fr Paul Farren, the Administrator of St Eugene said, “The response to this appeal was one of the most generous things that I have ever witnessed. The people of the parish and beyond really worked hard and fast to raise the money. It truly is Christianity in action.”
