St Mary’s Hall community meeting

An open community meeting will be held in St Mary’s Hall, Malin Head on Sunday 30th January at 4pm. The aim of this meeting is to involve all of the community, and it is hoped to answer any question about future plans for this project. All donations are welcome. Everyone is very welcome.

Renewal of subscription for the Parish draw for six months is 35euro. Contact any promoter. New members are very welcome to join.

The Parent & Toddler Group Parent and Toddler Group meets on Thursdays from 10am-11.30am. In St. Mary’s National school, Malin Head in the old building. Please note change of day.

iCare Inishowen Children Autism Related Education is running a Good as New shop for the next few weeks opposite JJKelly’s in Carndonagh.

The annual Malin GAA Dinner Dance takes place in the Malin Hotel on Saturday, January 29th when the legendary Micheal O’Muircheartaigh will be the special guest. Micheal made his first RTE broadcast on a Railway Cup game in 1949 and ,with his uniquely entertaining and often bilingual commentaries, went on to become the public voice of the GAA over six decades until his retirement from the airwaves after the 2010 All Ireland football final. Orders for tickets, priced at 25euro should be placed with committee members as soon as possible so as to avoid disappointment.

There will be new Job-seeking courses commencing in Carndonagh and Buncrana very soon. This fantastic, free training course will enable you to upskill and improve on interview techniques, apply for jobs, provide you with information on schemes etc. and much more. MALIN GAA-The Under 12 boys hurling team are currently taking part in the North West indoor competition for the next three Sundays where they will play teams from Donegal, Derry and Tyrone.

Under age hurling takes place on Wednesdays, Under 8s from 4-45 to 5-45 and from 6-00 to 7-00 for Under 10s/Under 12s. This is open to boys and girls, €2 per session. Camogie takes place from 5-00 to 6-00 every Monday. Equipment is provided by the club but anyone wishing to purchase their own equipment should contact any of the coaches.

Senior Scór Donegal Final will take place on the weekend of 18/19 February. If there are enough entries there will be an Inishowen final prior to this. The categories are Ceili dancing, solo singing, ballad group, instrumental group, recitation, novelty/drama, quiz team. All participants must be over 17, would anyone interested in representing Malin GAA club in Scór Sinseir please contact Grace McCarron on 086-8047199 before 28th January.

There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 5,2,4,1,6,7,3. Geraldine Lynott, Malin Town, was the 50 euro winner with the 20 euro seller’s prize going to Aoife McColgan, Malin. Next weekend’s jackpot is 950 euro and we thank the local community for its continued support.
