Local theatre company Marvel Arts will stage Stephen King’s famous psychological thriller about a famous novelist who is “rescued” from a car crash by an obsessed fan for one night only at The Playhouse on Friday, October 19.

Adapted for the stage by Simon Moore, the stunning King novel was nominated for World fantasy Award and later made into a Hollywood movie of the same name starring Kathy Bates and James Caan.

Successful romantic novelist, Paul Sheldon, who just had his life saved by his No.1 lives to regret it. When Ann Wilkes discovers that her favorite character, Misery Chastain, has been killed off in his latest novel she’ll do anything to make sure he brings her back to life. Now Paul Sheldon must write as if his life depended on it...because it does.

“The original novel was nominated for the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1988, and Moore’s Off-Broadway stage adaptation was met with great critical acclaim” Pauline Ross, Founder and Director of The Playhouse said.

“So we very much look forward to seeing Marvel Arts Theatre Company and actor Deigh Reid give a unique and memorable local flavour to this stunning story!”
