People who can’t make it to the polling station have been urged to register for postal and proxy votes ahead of the local council and European elections on May 22.

SDLP Foyleside candidate Rory Farrell said anyone who cannot vote in person due to disabilities or work or study-related absences should ensure they have their say.

“If you cannot go to the polling station in person you can apply to vote by post or proxy, where you appoint someone to vote on your behalf. Persons interested in registering for postal and proxy votes can apply to the Electoral Office directly or can contact any of the SDLP offices in the city. It is very important that everyone has their say in these very important elections,” he said.
