A ‘Strawberry Moon’ occurs when a full moon appears in the sky on same day as the summer solstice (the longest day of the year).

Native Americans coined the phrase ‘Strawberry Moon’ not because of its colour but because it signals the start of the strawberry picking season.

The next full moon to fall on the same day as the summer solstice will happen in 46 years time - in 2062.
