The Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, takes place on 21st June.

Malin Head Youth Club, playschool, football club, first responders group and the Community Centre invite everyone to enjoy the company of local traditional musicians who will be accompanied by other well known musicians from Inishowen for Sessions in the Sun. You can watch the sun set to the lilt of Irish music and song. Gates open at 8pm and music is from 9pm till dark. They would like to thank Inishowen Oil Co for sponsoring the event and Inishowen Development Partnership for their support.

You may also wish to start the day at sunrise itself at Banba’s Crown and join Cafe Banba for an early morning breakfast.

In Burt, Féile Grianán Áiligh 2015 is celebrating the Summer Solstice to

bring in the longest day of the year at 04.55 am at Grianan of Aileach Fort with a Dawn Chorus and musical programme as part of the Derry Music City Day celebrations.Led by the Inishowen Traditional Music Project and the Codetta

Choir, music will be provided at various intervals, from 01.30am

until 07.00am, both inside and outside Grianán Fort.Off site car parking will be available from 1:00 am and costs €5 per vehicle which includes a ticket for passengers to board the shuttle bus, taking visitors up to Grianán Fort in comfort, and bringing them back down again afterwards.
