The DUP MLA said: “It is deeply disturbing that within the past five days our city has witnessed two shootings and a viable device incident within our communities. I totally condemn this disgraceful activity which has no place in our society.

“Whilst no lives have been lost, these incidents have had a serious impact on local residents and the wider community.

“There will be those who will link the surge in dissident activity to the ongoing instability at Stormont and the ongoing tensions within the republican movement as to their direction of travel. Regardless of the reasoning, there can be no justification of terrorism.

“I would encourage anyone with any information to come forward to the PSNI to help bring the perpetrators to justice.”
